Pune: Couple dies after wall at thermal plant site collapses
India
A tragic accident in Pune's Talwade area claimed the lives of two laborers, a married couple, Sachin and Komal Rathod, when an under-construction brick compound wall at an Induction Thermal company site collapsed on Friday evening (March 13, 2026).
The wall gave way after being struck by a JCB machine collecting mud, trapping five workers in a pit below.
Relatives demand compensation before accepting bodies
While Sachin and Komal died on the spot, two others were rescued with minor injuries and treated at a local hospital.
Relatives of the deceased have refused to accept the bodies, demanding compensation from the contractor before moving forward.
Police are investigating, and survivor Geeta Chavhan shared that fellow workers rushed in to help right after the collapse.
