Rabies scare in Gujarat village after buffalo shows symptoms
India
A suspected rabies case in Laloda village, Gujarat, has everyone on edge after a buffalo died showing classic symptoms.
Worried about possible exposure, 32 villagers quickly got anti-rabies shots at the local hospital.
Dr. Sanjaykumar Chauhan reassured folks that rabies doesn't spread through milk but said giving vaccines was the safest move to keep everyone calm.
Buffalo didn't get bitten recently but rabies can be tricky
The buffalo had been drooling and stopped eating before it passed away, raising suspicions of rabies even though there were no recent bite reports.
Since the virus can hide for months before showing up, vets didn't want to take chances. Other animals nearby got vaccinated too.
As Dr. Janak B Patel put it, Rabies is serious but preventable if you act fast.
