Railway Minister suspends officials over dilapidated train coaches

India

After videos surfaced showing BSF personnel traveling in dirty, run-down train coaches on their way to the Amarnath Yatra, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw suspended four officials. The footage quickly sparked public outrage online, while railway authorities initially tried to downplay the issue.

Inquiry ordered; Congress also criticizes

Vaishnaw made it clear that security forces deserve respect and proper treatment, ordering an inquiry to prevent this from happening again. Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed also called out the poor conditions. Responding to the criticism, the Railways arranged a better-equipped train for the BSF team as they head out for their important assignment.
