Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice dodges digital arrest

Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava recently got a video call from someone pretending to be a cop, which he suspected to be part of a "digital arrest" scam.
Instead of panicking, he handed the call to the registrar.
This scam is on the rise across India, with thousands losing money—and in some heartbreaking cases, even their lives.

Rajasthan High Court's intervention

Seeing these scams grow, the Rajasthan High Court stepped in this January and asked both state and central governments plus RBI for action plans.
The court pushed for stronger banking safeguards and public awareness since "digital arrest" isn't real under Indian law.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan launched 'Operation Anti-Virus' and set up a Centre for Cyber Security to help stop these cybercrimes before they spread further.
