Rajnath Singh in Nagpur: output 1.78L cr, target 3L cr
India's making big moves in defense manufacturing: production jumped from ₹46,000 crore in 2014 to more than ₹1.78 lakh crore in 2025-26.
At the foundation-stone-laying/Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of a new aluminum extrusion press in Nagpur, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh shared that the next goal is ₹3 lakh crore in production and ₹50,000 crore in exports.
Defense exports soar, press boosts self-reliance
Defense exports have soared too, going from just ₹1,000 crore to nearly ₹40,000 crore.
The new press will help make parts for things like missiles and aircraft right here at home, meaning less importing and more self-reliance.
Singh said it was a significant step toward strengthening India's defense manufacturing capabilities and achieving self-reliance in critical defense technologies and said it'll boost both India's security and local development in Nagpur.
