Ranchi activist Nisha Kumari Bhagat dies allegedly by suicide
Tribal activist Nisha Kumari Bhagat died allegedly by suicide in Ranchi after sharing a Facebook Live video accusing land brokers and people associated with the government of harassment.
She said her requests for protection were ignored, putting the spotlight on Chief Minister Hemant Soren's government and how activists are treated.
CBI probe sought in Bhagat death
Bhagat's father and student leader Devendra Nath Mahto have separately called for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into her death, raising concerns about powerful people possibly being involved.
"I demand a high-level inquiry into my daughter's death. The probe should be conducted by the CBI, because high-profile people are involved," her father shared.
Forensic evidence had been collected from her residence.
