Robbery attempt thwarted on Visakha Express
Early Sunday morning, seven robbers tried to loot passengers on the Visakha Express as it passed through Andhra Pradesh's Palnadu district.
Around 3am two of them pulled the alarm chain in one coach to force the train to stop, but their plan hit a wall when Government Railway Police (GRP) officers on board stepped in.
As robbers attacked officers, they fired warning shots
As GRP officers intervened, some gang members waiting outside attacked them with stones.
The police responded by firing at least 10 warning shots into the air, which sent the robbers running into nearby fields.
Thankfully, no one was hurt and the train continued after a brief pause.
Gang has been involved in earlier thefts
Authorities say this gang has been involved in earlier thefts along this railway route.
A case has been registered and police teams are now patrolling more actively while searching for those involved.
