Rohit Mukhiya seeks help after saving colleagues in Delhi blaze
Rohit Mukhiya, 26, worked at Flourish Stays B&B in Delhi and is now asking for help after being badly injured in a hotel fire on June 3.
The fire was deadly: 23 people lost their lives, including 14 foreigners.
Rohit broke a window so two colleagues could escape before jumping from the first floor himself, even though he later underwent spinal surgery after injuring his back.
Delhi B&B owner and staff arrested
Turns out, the hotel was running way more rooms than allowed (26 instead of six) and police have arrested the owner and two staff members.
Rohit was his family's only earner on ₹12,000 a month but can't work while he recovers.
The hospital expenses were paid by the administration, but he says, "I have received no assistance from either the government or the hotel management, apart from the hospital expenses paid by the administration."
Now an NGO helps feed his family as he waits for more support: "I risked my life to save others," he shares.
