Savara Bhaskar wins claim at Visakhapatnam commission against HDFC Life
India
After Savara Bhaskar's wife, Radha, passed away from a heart attack in March 2025, HDFC Life Insurance denied his ₹50 lakh claim, saying there was a misstatement and misrepresentation of material facts in the proposal form.
Bhaskar took the matter to the Visakhapatnam Consumer Commission and won.
Commission orders 50L payment to Bhaskar
The commission found HDFC Life had no proof for its accusations and called its actions tantamount to deficiency in service.
It ordered the company to pay Bhaskar the full ₹50 lakh with 6% interest from March 15, 2025, plus ₹25,000 for compensation and ₹5,000 for costs.
The message is clear: insurers can't deny valid claims without solid evidence.
