SIT probes Ayodhya Ram temple over missing cash, fake jewelry
Ayodhya's Ram Temple is under scrutiny after reports of stolen cash and swapped fake jewelry surfaced.
With daily donations often hitting ₹8 to ₹13 lakh (and sometimes even crossing ₹50 lakh), a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has stepped in to review records, monitor donation handling, and question staff.
The goal: figure out what really happened and restore trust.
Ayodhya temple donations counted under CCTV
Donations are collected from 35 boxes and counted in a secure center under CCTV surveillance by temple staff and bank employees.
After counting, funds are packed into bank containers or boxes, and sealed under supervision before being transported to the SBI branch every morning.
The controversy has sparked criticism from opposition leaders, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav calling the charges of misappropriation of Ram Temple funds "extremely shameful" and calling out "government silence" as "suspicious."
RSS insiders admit the situation has tarnished the Sangh image, as everyone waits for the SIT's findings next week.
