SIT probes Ayodhya's Ram Mandir donations under Vijay Vishwas Pant
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is checking for any irregularities in how donations are handled at Ayodhya's Ram Mandir.
Led by Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, the team spent eight hours tracing the entire donation process, from collection boxes to bank deposits, after questions were raised about transparency.
SIT finds 10L at employee's home
The SIT reviewed records, security steps, staff logs, and the CCTV monitoring setup. With 40 donation boxes opened daily and counting handled by a private agency under CCTV watch, things looked mostly secure.
While they found ₹10 lakh in cash at an employee's home (which is still under investigation), initial findings suggest unauthorized cash removal from temple boxes seems unlikely.
The temple has seen huge donations since its January 2024 opening, ₹153 crore in FY 2024-25 (April 2024-March 2025), and the SIT will report back to the government within 15 days.
