Stubble burning worsens Delhi air as AQI tops 400
About 589 stubble-burning incidents were reported across seven states and Union Territories on Friday, November 6, with most of them happening in Punjab.
All this stubble burning is making Delhi's air even worse: AQI levels have shot past 400 in several spots, and the city has been stuck with "very poor" air for six days.
The thick smog hanging over Delhi right now is likely due to a combination of local emissions, unfavorable meteorological conditions, and seasonal stubble burning.
Punjab reported 357 fires Friday
Punjab led the count with 357 fires in a single day, while Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan reported 139 and 58, respectively.
Since September 15, there have been 6,226 stubble-burning cases across seven states and Union Territories; Punjab alone accounts for more than half.
With weather conditions not helping, Delhi's air quality is worsening amid local emissions, unfavorable meteorological conditions, and seasonal stubble burning.
