Supreme Court steps in on Delhi-NCR air pollution crisis

India

The Supreme Court is set to issue strict, enforceable orders to address Delhi-NCR's out-of-control air pollution.
With a hearing scheduled for December 17, the court voiced real concern for kids' health after schools kept outdoor sports going—even though there's a ban in place for November and December during periods of poor air quality.

Why should you care?

Air quality in Delhi has hit "severe" levels at almost every monitoring station—meaning it's not just uncomfortable, but actually risky to breathe outside.
The court pointed out that current anti-pollution rules aren't working unless the court steps in, and even construction workers are losing jobs due to emergency bans.
The new orders aim to finally get authorities moving and protect everyone's health—especially children and low-income workers who are most affected by the smog.
