Tamil Nadu court jails P.C. Rajan, A. Muthukumar over 1.2cr-loss
A Tamil Nadu court has sentenced DMK functionary P.C. Rajan, then chairman of Kalakkad Town Panchayat, who is the vice-chairman of Kalakkad Municipality now, and Executive Officer A. Muthukumar to three years in prison for illegally approving a housing layout back in 2011, which ended up costing the government ₹1.2 crore.
The project, spread over 7.43 acres and split into 165 plots, skipped key town planning rules, like setting aside space for public utilities, but still got the green light from Rajan and Muthukumar.
Vigilance finds violations against Rajan, Muthukumar
The state's Vigilance and anti-corruption team investigated and found clear violations that led to the financial loss.
With Rajan currently serving as vice chairman of Kalakkad Municipality, the court held both men responsible for their actions, making it clear that cutting corners on public projects comes with real consequences.
