Tamil Nadu's 345 fishermen return to Chennai after Iran ordeal

After weeks stranded in war-torn Iran, 345 fishermen from Tamil Nadu are back in Chennai.
Many were stuck on Kish Island since late February, out of work and sending video pleas for help as the conflict between Iran, the US and Israel escalated.
BJP funds ₹3.25cr repatriation
The Indian government stepped in to organize their return, with the BJP covering the ₹3.25 crore travel cost.
The operation also brought home about 20 fishermen from Kerala, Puducherry, Gujarat, and Odisha.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal called it a matter of great satisfaction and a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's philosophy, and everyone got essentials plus rides back to their hometowns once they landed.
