Telangana minister faces arrest after skipping defamation trial
Telangana Minister Konda Surekha is in legal trouble after a Hyderabad court issued a non-bailable warrant for her arrest.
She repeatedly missed court hearings in a defamation case brought by BRS leader KT Rama Rao, who accused her of blaming him for the high-profile divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya.
Despite several summons, she neither appeared nor asked to be excused.
What happens next?
The court has now told police to arrest Surekha and bring her in, with the case pushed to February 5, 2026.
She's also been ordered to stop making any more statements about Rao and to remove past comments from platforms like YouTube and Facebook.
While Surekha has taken back similar claims against others, she's still standing by what she said about Rao—prompting the court's strict response this time around.
