Tractor-trolley carrying people crashes in Sitapur killing 5, injuring several
India
A tragic accident in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, saw a tractor-trolley, meant for farm work but used to carry people, in a fatal road accident on Saturday, leaving five dead and several injured.
The injured were quickly taken to the hospital.
Police blame overspeeding, illegal passenger use
Police say overspeeding and using the tractor-trolley illegally for passenger transport likely caused the crash.
"People were traveling in a tractor-trolley, which should not happen. As far as the tractor is concerned, overspeeding may have caused the incident. This will be examined during the investigation," said Inspector General Kiran S.
Authorities now want stricter enforcement of traffic rules to help prevent these kinds of accidents in the future.
