Two pregnant women operated during Jamui Sadar Hospital power outage
India
At Jamui Sadar Hospital in Bihar, two pregnant women had to undergo surgeries on Friday, without electricity.
A power outage hit during the operations for nearly 45 minutes, and the backup generator failed.
Dr Shalini Kumari and Dr Raghunandan, with OT assistant Amit Kumar, finished both procedures using a flashlight and cellphone flashlights.

A video from the scene showed a nurse helping out with a cellphone flashlight.
Some staff said this is not the first time power cuts have disrupted surgeries here, raising worries about unreliable electricity and backup systems.
However, the hospital manager denied that these problems happen often.
A high-level inquiry is now underway to look into what went wrong.
