Two young IAF pilots die in Assam Su-30 crash
Two young IAF pilots, Squadron Leader Anuj, 29, and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar, reported as 25, died after their Su-30MKI fighter jet crashed in Assam's Karbi Anglong on March 5 during a routine training flight.
The aircraft lost contact with radar about 60km from base, and locals later reported hearing a loud explosion.
The IAF confirmed their deaths the next day.
Anuj was to be married; Duragkar had just returned from
Anuj, from Gurugram, had dreamed of flying since childhood (following in his army father's footsteps) and was described as quiet but deeply committed to his squadron. He was soon to be married.
Duragkar, from Nagpur, had just returned to duty after visiting family; he had served four years and taken part in Operation Sindoor last year.
Both families are now preparing for their sons' final rites amid immense loss.
