UP: 3 murder convicts finally caught after 42 years on the run
India
After more than four decades, Uttar Pradesh Police have tracked down and arrested three men convicted of a 1983 murder case in Agra.
The crime involved the killing of five family members—including farmer Sukh Ram and his elderly mother—over a property dispute with Ram's uncle, Kunwar Pal Singh.
How they were found
All eight accused were sentenced to life in 1985 but got bail two years later.
Three of them—Rajpal, Sajan Pal, and their neighbor Manikchand—vanished and lived under fake identities for years.
Recently, undercover police officers spent a month posing as labor contractors to locate them.
The trio, now all over 70, were arrested on Saturday and sent to judicial custody.
