UP: Fire at cracker market destroys 65 stalls, no casualties

India

On Sunday, a massive fire tore through the temporary firecracker market at MG College ground in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Over 65 shops and several two-wheelers were destroyed, with fireworks worth crores going up in smoke.
Thankfully, while some people suffered minor burns, there were no fatalities.

Blaze started at 1 stall, quickly spread to others

The blaze reportedly started around 12:30pm at one stall—possibly due to a short-circuit—and quickly spread to stalls packed with fireworks.
This led to loud explosions and chaos as people rushed for safety.
Even though the fire station was nearby, shopkeepers said it took about 20 minutes for help to arrive.

Investigation underway to determine cause of fire

Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar Singh confirmed that no one lost their life and said an investigation is underway to find out what caused the fire and if anyone was negligent.
Authorities have promised strict action if negligence is found and assured support for shopkeepers who lost everything.
