Video: Pitbull attacks 6-year-old boy, bites off ear in Delhi
What's the story
A six-year-old boy was brutally attacked by a pitbull dog in Prem Nagar, northwest Delhi, on Sunday. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, showing the dog lunging at the child while he played outside his home. The dog is seen grabbing the boy by the ears and dragging him along the ground. A woman rushes in and tries to pull the dog away from the boy. The boy's right ear was bitten off in the attack.

Dog owner arrested, case registered
The dog's owner, Rajesh Pal, has been arrested in connection with the incident. A case has been registered under sections 291 (negligent conduct with respect to animals) and 125(b) (rash or negligent act endangering life and safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. "Preliminary inquiry revealed that the boy was playing outside his house in Vinay Enclave, when the pitbull suddenly came out from a neighbour's residence and attacked him," a police official was quoted as saying.

Victim's grandfather recounts horrifying incident
The victim's grandfather, Kameshwar Rai, described how the child was playing when he missed a throw. "Yesterday, around 3pm, my grandson was playing, and he missed a throw, and the ball went rolling towards the house where the dog was tied; then everything happened in a flash," he said, according to PTI. The boy was rescued by two people who pulled him away from the dog's grip.
Medical care
Child receives medical treatment after attack
After the attack, the child was rushed to BSA Hospital in Rohini with serious injuries. He has since been shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment. The police have collected the boy's hospital records. The boy's father, Dinesh, 32, who works at a private factory in Kirti Nagar, has also given his statement to the police regarding this incident.

Previous incidents involving same dog reported
Witnesses have claimed that this is not the first time the dog has attacked children in the area. Four other children had been attacked earlier. Satish Kumar, a witness to the incident, said he saw the dog running and attacking the child while he was playing outside his home. He also added that another young girl had been attacked by this same dog earlier, but managed to escape by rushing into a nearby basement.
