After a tragic accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on June 8 that took 10 workers' lives, workers' unions and civil groups are pushing for ₹1 crore compensation and permanent jobs for each victim's family.
The meeting was chaired by JAC chairman M. Jaggu Naidu and vice-chairman M. Manmadhara Rao.
JAC seeks 50L and judicial inquiry
The JAC also wants ₹50 lakh for injured workers, plus full medical coverage.
They're calling for an independent judicial inquiry to find out what went wrong and prevent future accidents, pointing to serious safety lapses as a cause.
"Our first demand is a judicial inquiry. Only an independent and impartial investigation can bring out the truth," said CITU state president Ch Narasinga Rao.
Multiple major unions joined the call, showing just how widespread the demand for justice and safer workplaces has become after this tragedy.
