West Bengal clashes: Aftermath in Rabindra Nagar
A dispute over setting up a shop in Rabindranagar, Maheshtala (South 24 Parganas) spiraled into violent communal clashes on Wednesday. The situation quickly turned chaotic—protesters threw stones, set vehicles (including police cars and bikes) on fire, and attacked police officers. At least five cops were injured before the police managed to break up the crowd using tear gas and lathicharge.
Political parties blaming each other
Police have arrested 40 people and registered seven FIRs after investigating the violence. To keep things from getting worse, authorities have imposed prohibitory orders in the area and there's still a heavy police presence. Meanwhile, political parties are blaming each other: BJP wants central forces deployed and accuses police of targeting Hindu families, while TMC says BJP is just politicizing a local land issue. Tensions remain high as both sides dig in their heels.
