West Bengal is cracking down on messy habits in cities: starting September 1, you could be fined for spitting, public urination, littering, or using too much plastic.
Fines range from ₹100 for spitting to ₹200 for other offenses.
Shopkeepers also need to keep their storefronts clean or risk penalties.
