West Bengal judicial officers warned of Kaliachak-II standoff April 1
Judicial officers in West Bengal had already flagged security worries before the recent protest at Kaliachak-II Block Development Office.
Back on March 23, they warned the district magistrate about possible trouble over voter list issues in Mothabari and even asked to be moved for safety.
Their concerns proved valid when things escalated on April 1, leading to a tense standoff.
SC seeks CBI or NIA probe
After the incident, the Supreme Court called for a probe by the CBI or NIA to dig deeper.
The officers were shifted to hotels in Malda town with Central Armed Police Forces now guarding them.
Police eventually rescued everyone trapped during the protest and arrested 36 people.
Officials say they are working to fix any lapses and keep everyone safe moving forward.
