Why Assam CM Sarma is not revealing Zubeen Garg's autopsy
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has decided to keep late singer Zubeen Garg's postmortem reports confidential for now, saying it's important not to disrupt the ongoing court case.
Garg passed away in September 2024, with autopsies done both in Singapore and at Guwahati Medical College.
Investigation is underway; reports expected soon
To help the investigation, Garg's wife Garima handed over the postmortem reports to the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
The government has also sent samples for forensic testing in New Delhi, with results expected soon—these could clarify if poisoning was involved.
Meanwhile, a Judicial Commission is monitoring the probe. There are fresh accusations of foul play: co-singer Sekhar Jyoti Goswami and others have been named in new complaints, and several people linked to the Assam Association of Singapore have been summoned for questioning this week.
