Xi Jinping arrives in New Delhi for 18th BRICS summit
Chinese President Xi Jinping just touched down in New Delhi for the 18th BRICS summit, his first visit to India since 2019.
He was received at Palam Airport by Minister of State for Railways and Communications Jitin Prasada.
India's Ministry of External Affairs is hoping for some "constructive discussions" that could help shape a more balanced and multipolar world.
PM Modi to meet Xi today
Xi will meet Prime Minister Modi today, with talks likely focusing on easing tensions from their 2020 border standoff.
Modi's also set to connect with Russian President Putin and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The summit covers big topics like trade, tech, sustainability, and global conflicts (think Ukraine and West Asia).
Since leading BRICS this year, India has hosted more than 350 meetings and high-level engagements under the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," showing its push for stronger teamwork among emerging economies.
