YSRCP leader detained over Andhra Pradesh liquor scam
Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, a senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Chandragiri MLA, was stopped at Bengaluru airport while reportedly trying to fly to a foreign country.
Police picked him up because he's linked to an ongoing investigation into a massive liquor scam that allegedly happened during the previous Andhra Pradesh government.
Bhaskar Reddy says he has nothing to do with scam
Andhra Pradesh police quickly flew in and took Bhaskar Reddy to Vijayawada for questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The YSRCP claims his detention is politically motivated, but investigators say they're just following the evidence.
Bhaskar Reddy insists he has nothing to do with the scam and says he's ready to cooperate.
Meanwhile, tensions are rising as YSRCP also alleges police assaulted his gunman during the probe.
