Janata Dal (United) candidate Anant Singh was arrested in connection with the murder of Dularchand Yadav, a supporter of the rival political party Jan Suraaj. The incident occurred during a clash between two groups of competing candidates on October 30. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that Singh and his aides Manikant Thakur and Ranjeet Ram were arrested after an operation involving around 150 Central Armed Police Forces personnel.
