So, here's a comparison of the Pro model with the standard AirPods to understand what has changed.
Apple AirPods Pro v/s AirPods: At a glance
The AirPods Pro has an all-new design, with swappable silicone ear tips for a more secure and sealed in-ear fit as well as a smaller stem than the regular AirPods.
The Pro model also uses a vent system to equalize pressure within the ear canal, something which was absent on the standard AirPods.
Further, the new variant is also sweat and water-resistant.
Apple AirPods Pro v/s AirPods: Features
The AirPods Pro's highlight feature is the Active Noise Cancellation. The earbuds use two microphones to remove background noise at up to 200 times per second.
The Pro model also has a transparency mode, and "Adaptive EQ" feature - the former lets you hear ambient sounds and the latter "automatically tunes music to the shape of your ear," resulting in an improved listening experience.
Apple AirPods Pro v/s AirPods: Battery life
On a single charge, the Pro offers 3.5 hours of talk time and 4.5 hours of music playback with ANC switched on. If ANC is switched off, the earbuds will offer upto 5 hours of usage.
In comparison, the AirPods offer 3 hours of talking time and 5 hours of listening time.
They support wireless charging and the case offers 24 hours of charge.
Apple AirPods Pro v/s AirPods: On-Device Controls
The Apple AirPods Pro comes with a force sensor at the bottom of the stem which can be used to switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode. This sensor also lets you control functions like play/pause and skipping tracks.
In comparison, the standard AirPods come with touch sensors for controlling music.
Further, both models support "Hey Siri" functionality to activate Siri.
