Realme X50 Pro v/s iQoo 3: The better 5G smartphone
  • 5G technology may not become a reality in India anytime soon but the country's first 5G-ready phones are already here.

Rivaling Realme's X50 Pro 5G, Vivo spin-off iQoo has debuted in India with its iQoo 5G phone. Both handsets are priced competitively and come with flagship-grade internals, versatile cameras, high-quality displays, as well as modern designs.

So, which one is better? Let's find out.

  • Both the phones come with premium all-glass bodies, built-in cooling systems, and feature punch-hole screens. However, the iQoo 3 boasts of the smallest camera cut-out in the segment (measuring at just 2.98mm) while the X50 Pro gets a prominent pill-shaped design for its dual front-facing cameras.

The iQoo 3 also sports pressure-sensitive shoulder keys for multi-finger operations while gaming.

    Winner: iQoo 3.

  • Display

    All about the screen

  • The Realme X50 Pro 5G comes with a 6.44-inch AMOLED screen with a full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) resolution, HDR10+ support, 90Hz refresh rate, and DC Dimming support for flicker-free experience.

In comparison, the iQoo 3 also has an HDR10+ certified 6.44-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display. However, it supports a higher refresh rate of 120Hz for smoother screen animations and fluidic scrolling experience.

    Winner: iQoo 3.

For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
  • The Realme X50 Pro features a 64MP main sensor, 12MP telephoto lens, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP portrait camera. Up front, it has 32MP+ 8MP dual-lens unit.

The iQoo flagship, on the other hand, trails in this category with a 48MP primary sensor, 13MP telephoto lens, 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, it has a 16MP shooter.

  • Internals

    Under the hood

    Under the hood
  • Both handsets are powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of storage (UFS 3.0 on Realme's handset and the latest UFS 3.1 on the iQoo flagship).

Further, all the variants of the Realme X50 Pro are 5G-ready whereas only the top-spec iQoo 3 model supports 5G (others are 4G-only variants).

    Winner: You decide.

  • Nitty-gritty

    Battery to biometrics

  • The Realme X50 Pro packs a 4,200mAh battery which supports an industry-leading 65W SuperDart Charge technology (charger included in the box). In comparison, the iQoo 3 houses a 4,440mAh battery with a 55W Super FlashCharge technology.

Further, both the handsets come with optical in-screen fingerprint sensors and run Android 10 with their own custom skin on top.

Winner: iQoo 3 for slightly bigger battery.

  • Pocket-pinch

    Pricing: The key factor

  • The Realme X50 Pro 5G costs Rs. 37,999 for the entry-level 6GB/128GB variant, Rs. 39,999 for the 8GB/128GB model, and Rs. 44,999 for top-of-the-line variant with 12GB/256GB configuration.

In comparison, the iQoo 3 costs Rs. 36,990 for the entry-level 8GB/128GB model, Rs. 39,990 for 8GB/256GB variant, and Rs. 44,990 for the 5G-ready 12GB/256GB configuration.

  • Our verdict

    How things stack up?

    How things stack up?
  • While both phones are quite competitive, 5G shouldn't be a differentiating factor considering the technology will not arrive in India anytime soon.

With that out of the way, if you are a serious gamer, the iQoo 3, with all the gaming-centric features and 120Hz display, will appeal to you. But if you want a jack of all trades flagship phone, pick the X50 Pro.
