What's the story

Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane missed out on century by a whisker in his team's last group-stage match of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy on Friday. Rahane fell for 96 against Meghalaya after resuming Day 2 at 83* at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai . This was his first half-century of this season. Here are his stats.

After bundling out Meghalaya for 86 on Day 1, Mumbai lost two early wickets. Skipper Rahane arrived at number four and he steadied the ship with a 196-run stand with centurion Siddhesh Lad for the third wicket. Both batters returned unbeaten on Day 1. While Lad went on to complete his hundred, Rahane missed the landmark by just four runs. He was dismissed by pacer Nafees Siddique.

Rahane last featured for Team India versus West Indies in a two-match Test series in July 2023. He scored 3 and 8 and wasn't picked thereafter. Rahane made a comeback to the team for the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final against Australia. He scored 89 and 46. Before that he appeared in January 2022.
