What's the story

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Chaminda Vaas has been appointed the Delhi Capitals bowling coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The franchise had been in talks with a couple of former Indian bowlers, including Zaheer Khan and Anil Kumble, but those negotiations didn't materialize. The decision comes after two challenging seasons with head coach Hemang Badani, director Venugopal Rao, and bowling coach Munaf Patel.

Major changes in DC's coaching staff

The appointment of Vaas is part of a major overhaul in the coaching staff of Delhi Capitals. The franchise has also appointed Yuvraj Singh as their batting coach.

Sourav Ganguly is likely to be named as the head coach while former India spinner Amit Mishra is also expected to join this new setup.

This comes after DC's failure to qualify for the playoffs since 2021.
