A cricketer for whom Somerset sought special permission from ECB to recruit into their academy at the age of 12 and a player who changed the perception of cricket watchers around the world about English limited-overs sides, Jos Buttler is a maverick in his own rights. Someone who speaks loud with his bat but is soft-spoken otherwise, Buttler has mesmerized people with his inventiveness in all formats of the game. Buttler made his first-class debut for Somerset in 2009 against Lancashire. Although he couldn't perform to his potential in the beginning, he soon became a regular in the limited-overs side. Buttler's impressive domestic form led to his international call-up in 2011. He made his debut in a T20I against India in 2011. Buttler did not have it easy initially as he had to wait almost a year for his second ODI cap after his debut in 2012. A wicketkeeper-batsman, Buttler made his Test debut in 2014 and scored five half-centuries in his first eight Tests. He was named the vice-captain of the team in England's tour of Sri Lanka in 2021 and led the team in Eoin Morgan's absence in two ODIs against India.
