What's the story

Ahead of India's highly anticipated T20I series against Australia, Rinku Singh has made a mark in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy. Playing for Uttar Pradesh, he scored a brilliant century against Andhra Pradesh in the first round of the tournament in Kanpur. The match saw Andhra score 470/10 in their first innings, after which Uttar Pradesh was reduced to 178/5 at one point.

Knock 

A timely knock from Rinku 

Despite the early wickets, Rinku came in at number five and steadied the ship for his team. He played a patient innings, facing 180 balls to complete his century. It must be noted that the southpaw added 122 runs with Vipraj Nigam (42) for the seventh wicket as UP went past 330. As mentioned, the team was reeling at 178/5 at one stage.

Career stats 

Over 3,400 runs in FC cricket

As per ESPNcricinfo, this was the eighth time in his First-Class career that Rinku crossed the 100-run mark. Playing his 51st match, he has raced past 3,400 runs with an average of over 54. His record also includes 22 half-centuries though he is yet to play Tests for India. However, the southpaw has represented the national team in 34 T20Is and two ODIs.

Australia tour 

Rinku will be seen in action Down Under 

Rinku's next Team India assignment will be on the upcoming tour of Australia. The two teams will play five T20Is, which will be held from October 29 to November 8. Though Rinku has not been picked for the ODI leg of the tour, he continues to be a vital part of the T20I team. However, his spot in the playing XI is not certain.
