What's the story

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the Team of the Tournament for the Women's World Cup 2025. The squad features three players from India, including opener Smriti Mandhana, batter Jemimah Rodrigues, and Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma. South Africa's captain Laura Wolvaardt will lead this star-studded XI. Australia also got three spots in this elite lineup.

Wolvaardt, who captains the Team of the Tournament, had a stellar run in the tournament. She scored 571 runs at an average of 71.37, breaking the record for most runs in a single edition of the Women's World Cup. Mandhana finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 434 runs at an average of 54.25, including one century and two fifties.

Rodrigues made a significant contribution with an unbeaten 127 against Australia in the semifinals. She ended the tournament with 292 runs at an average of 58.40, including one century and one 50. On the other hand, Deepti Sharma had a phenomenal all-round campaign, scoring over 200 runs and taking more than 15 wickets in a single World Cup for the first time ever.

Australia's Ash Gardner was impressive with both bat and ball, scoring 328 runs at an average of 82, including two centuries. She also took seven wickets. Annabel Sutherland was Australia's leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets at an average of 15.82. Despite her team's early exit, Pakistan's Sidra Nawaz topped the tournament with eight dismissals (four catches and four stumpings).

England's Sophie Ecclestone was included for her bowling performance, while captain Nat Sciver-Brunt was named as the 12th player. She scored 262 runs and took nine wickets in the tournament, including a century against Sri Lanka. South Africa's Marizanne Kapp also made it to the elite lineup with her all-round excellence, scoring 208 runs and taking 12 wickets during the tournament.
