What's the story

Mark Epstein, the brother of late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has made explosive allegations against the Republican Party. He accused them of "sabotaging" files related to his brother in a bid to protect their names before they are released. Mark claimed that these alterations are being made at a facility in Winchester, Virginia. He said he learned about this from a "pretty good source."

Allegations unveiled

Mark claims Jeffrey had compromising information on Trump

"I've been recently told, the reason they're going to be releasing the files and the reason for the flip is that they're sabotaging these files," he told NewsNation, adding, "They are scrubbing the files to take Republican names out." Mark also claimed that his brother told him in 2016 that he had information on Donald Trump that was damning enough to "cancel the election." He said, "He didn't tell me what he knew but Jeffrey definitely had dirt on Trump."

Cover-up claims

Mark accuses FBI of covering up Jeffrey's death

Mark also accused the FBI of covering up his brother's 2019 "suicide." He said FBI Director Kash Patel was involved in this cover-up. "Absolutely, he said he was the one who said in his testimony, you know the suicide when you see one, I had a laugh," Mark said. "How many suicides has that Jack--s seen? OK? He's not a doctor; he's not a pathologist. He never saw Jeffrey's body. He wasn't there," he added.

Release delay

US House, Senate agree to make justice department release files

Both chambers of Congress have agreed to order the US justice department to release its files on Epstein. The release of the files now awaits Trump's signoff. Although Trump and Epstein socialized in similar circles, President Trump has denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein's crimes. Virginia Giuffre, a prominent Epstein accuser who died in April, also said she never saw Trump participate in any abuse.
