Hyundai's IONIQ 9 'BigTime' concept is ready for off-road adventures
What's the story
Hyundai has prepared a new concept vehicle, the IONIQ 9 'BigTime,' for the SEMA show. The three-row electric vehicle (EV) has been transformed into an adventure-ready rig with a taller suspension and rally-inspired wheels. The design features aggressive BFGoodrich KO3 tires and OZ Racing rally wheels, making it look like a silent yet fierce SUV.
Design
The vehicle's exterior is rugged while the interior offers luxury
The IONIQ 9 'BigTime' features a custom light bar with eight LED lamps, which are powered by a 110kWh battery pack. However, the drag from the bar, lights, and larger tires could reduce the range of the AWD Calligraphy trim it is based on. The vehicle's exterior is rugged while its interior offers luxury with leather seats and a power-adjustable middle row.
Power specs
The concept EV packs a combined output of 422hp
The IONIQ 9 'BigTime' packs a combined output of 422hp and torque of up to 700Nm. This power comes from the front and rear electric motors borrowed from the Calligraphy trim. The concept vehicle was developed in collaboration with YouTubers Jeremiah Burton and Zach Jobe, who are known for their channel BigTime. They based the graphics on their 1977 Kenworth K100 truck.
Unique fusion
The IONIQ 9 'BigTime' encourages potential buyers to explore mods
The IONIQ 9 'BigTime' concept is a unique fusion of modern tech and vintage aesthetics. Burton, one of the YouTubers who helped design the vehicle, said, "This new-tech-meets-vintage look makes the car stand out." He added that with some performance mods, it could be a capable off-roader. The concept vehicle shows what is possible with an IONIQ 9 and encourages potential buyers to explore customization options.
