Mahindra XEV 9S debuts in India at ₹20L
What's the story
Mahindra has officially launched its latest electric SUV, the XEV 9S, in India. The new model is available at a starting price of ₹19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes as an addition to Mahindra's premium EV lineup and sits above the XEV 9e. The XEV 9S is built on the dedicated INGLO architecture and focuses on maximizing cabin space with high-tech onboard features and comfortable seating arrangements.

A blend of space and tech
The "S" in the name stands for "space," which is a major focus for this new EV. It promises class-leading interior space and practicality. The SUV's overall cabin volume is 3,941-liter with a boot space of 527-liter and frunk capacity of 150-liter. The model comes with a sliding second row, reclining seats, ventilated seating options as well as powered Boss Mode for rear passenger comfort.

Dashboard features a triple-screen setup
The interior of the XEV 9S is packed with tech and passenger-centric features. It introduces MAIA AI, Mahindra's new artificial intelligence system that integrates into the infotainment and vehicle control ecosystem. The dashboard features a triple-screen setup with two BYOD rear entertainment displays, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and VisionX augmented-reality head-up display for the driver. Other highlights include ambient lighting inside and a full-length sky roof.

Battery options and performance
The XEV 9S is available with three LFP battery pack options of 59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh. All variants are powered by a single electric motor that produces up to 210kW (approximately 282hp) and 380Nm. The SUV promises premium long-distance usability with four drive modes and five levels of regenerative braking. It also comes with Level-2+ ADAS capability for improved safety on the road.
Market positioning
A bridge between mainstream and luxury
Mahindra says the development of the XEV 9S was directly influenced by feedback from customers of the BE 6 and XEV 9e models. The brand has positioned this model as a bridge between mainstream and luxury-segment electric SUVs. Bookings for this new addition to Mahindra's EV portfolio will open on January 14, with deliveries expected to start from January 23, next year.
