Maruti Suzuki Ciaz gets just 1 star in Global NCAP crash tests
The now-discontinued Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has landed a low 1-star rating for adult safety and 3 stars for child safety in the latest Global NCAP crash tests.
Even though it's off the market, some unsold cars are still at dealerships.
What went wrong in the crash tests?
Frontal crash results showed that while head and neck protection was okay, chest protection was weak and there was a higher risk of leg injuries due to unstable footwells.
In side impacts, head and pelvis were fairly protected, but the abdomen didn't fare as well and chest compression was high.
Child safety and missing features
Rear-facing ISOFIX child seats did protect infant dummies in both test types, but there were issues—like no 3-point seatbelts on all seats or an airbag deactivation switch.
The Ciaz comes with basics like dual front airbags and ESC, but misses out on key features such as side head airbags or emergency braking—making its safety feel pretty outdated by today's standards.
