Mercedes-Benz to offer steer by wire on refreshed EQS sedan
Auto
Mercedes-Benz says its forthcoming refreshed EQS sedan will get steer-by-wire system: think airplane-style controls for your car.
Instead of the usual mechanical setup, steering now happens through electronic signals.
If that sounds a bit too high-tech, don't worry: you can still get a regular steering wheel if you want.
Mercedes reports 1 million km testing
To make sure this tech is safe, Mercedes put it through over 1 million kilometers of testing and added backup systems and sensors.
The new EQS also comes with a race-car-style steering yoke, which Mercedes says gives you better visibility of your dashboard and makes hopping in and out easier.
Early reviews from auto experts have been pretty positive about how it all feels on the road.
