MG Hector facelift to debut tomorrow: What to expect
What's the story
MG Motor is all set to unveil the facelifted version of its popular mid-size SUV, the Hector, in India on December 15. The new model will sport a refreshed exterior design, upgraded interior trims, and an enhanced infotainment system. However, it is likely to retain its current petrol and diesel engine options. The update mainly focuses on design and feature enhancements rather than mechanical changes.
Design refresh
Exterior design updates
Teaser images of the new Hector reveal a sharper front-end design with a revised grille and updated LED lighting elements. The SUV will also get new alloy wheel designs and subtle changes to the bumper profile. MG India has also confirmed a new exterior color option, Celadon Blue, for the facelifted model. Despite these changes, the overall silhouette of the vehicle remains unchanged.
Cabin upgrades
Interior and cabin changes
The interior of the facelifted Hector has been teased with updated upholstery and revised dashboard trims. While the basic layout remains unchanged, it gets refreshed materials and color themes for a more modern look. MG is likely to improve the in-cabin experience with minor design tweaks rather than a complete overhaul. The seating configuration and overall space are expected to remain similar to the current model.
Tech enhancements
Infotainment and technology upgrades
The facelifted Hector is expected to come with an upgraded infotainment system. The signature large portrait touchscreen will remain, but with improved software, updated graphics, and better connectivity features. The facelifted model will also retain connected car technology, a digital instrument cluster, and voice command functions. However, these features are likely to be refined for better usability in the new model.
Engine options
MG Hector facelift: Powertrain and mechanical setup
MG has not announced any changes to the Hector's engine lineup with this facelift. The new model is expected to continue with the existing petrol and diesel engine options, along with manual and automatic transmission choices depending on the variant. Other mechanical components, suspension setup, and drivetrain are also expected to remain unchanged in this update.
