Next-generation BMW 3-Series to launch in India on August 22
BMW India is all set to launch its 2019 BMW 3 series sedan in the country on August 22. Debuted in 2018 Paris Motor Show, the luxury sedan sports BMW's CLAR architecture and is available in 2.0-liter petrol and 3.0-liter diesel engine options. Notably, the pre-bookings for it are already underway, while deliveries are expected to commence in late 2019. Here's more.
The seventh generation BMW 3 series is based on BMW's CLAR architecture and comes with a larger kidney grille, improved wheelbase, dual exhausts, and T-shaped air intakes. For lighting, the sedan houses sleek LED headlamps with the DRLs and optional laser lights along with the LED taillamps. Meanwhile, the 2019 BMW 3 Series is also 55kg lighter than its previous model.
The upcoming BMW features a spacious cabin with improved head and shoulder room along with the increased 481 liters boot capacity. It sports a digital instrument console with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, brand's personal assistant, and GPS support. Moreover, the sedan offers a bunch of modern features including electric sunroof, keyless entry, memory seats, and three-zone automatic climate control among others.
Globally, the new-generation BMW 3 Series is offered in 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter turbo petrol and diesel engine options. However, it is expected that the company would introduce only 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines in India that will be mated to eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The petrol unit makes 258hp of power and 400Nm torque, while the diesel mill churns out 190hp and 400Nm.
Internationally, the all-new BMW 3 series is available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. However, the company will only launch the rear-wheel-drive variant in India. The premium sedan offers disc brakes on the front and rear wheels along with ABS, EBD, and traction control. Moreover, it also gets six airbags along with TPMS (Tire pressure management system) and the adaptive M Suspension system.
The company is yet to announce the official pricing of the 2019 BMW 3 series in India. However, we expect it to arrive at a price of around Rs. 40 lakh. And, it will lock horns with the rivals such as Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Volvo S60, and the Jaguar XE.
