Airbus says India flights per person will more than double
Big news for anyone who loves to fly (or just wants more travel options): Airbus says the average number of trips per person in India is set to more than double over the next 10 years.
Airbus's Senior Vice President, Marketing for Commercial Aircraft, Joost van der Heijden, shared this at a major airline industry meeting on June 16.
Airbus exec cites incomes fueling travel
Heijden points to India's huge metro populations and a growing middle class eager to explore both within Asia and further abroad: think Australia and Europe.
"The Indian aviation market is one of the fastest-growing in the world," he said, crediting rising incomes for fueling all this wanderlust.
Indian airlines ordered 1,250 A320s
Airbus isn't just making predictions: it's part of the action.
Indian airlines have ordered 1,250 A320 planes from Airbus, with plans for about 120 new deliveries each year.
Plus, newer models like the A330 neo and A321 XLR are helping airlines offer everything from quick hops across India to ultra-long flights abroad.
