What's the story

The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) has announced five key initiatives to deepen mutual fund participation and strengthen investor awareness across the country. The announcement was made on the occasion of AMFI's 31st foundation day. These initiatives are part of a larger effort by AMFI to make investing simple, accessible, and relevant to everyday financial needs.

Inclusion focus

Initiatives aimed at expanding awareness and participation

The initiatives announced by AMFI are aimed at expanding awareness and participation across a wide range of segments.

This includes women, first-time investors, households in smaller towns and cities, members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and microfinance communities.

The move also seeks to strengthen professionalism and ethical standards within the mutual fund distribution ecosystem.

Strategic partnerships

Workshops for mutual fund distributors

AMFI has partnered with the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) to strengthen professionalism and ethical standards across the mutual fund distribution ecosystem.

The initiative will conduct around 20 workshops across major cities, covering some 10,000 mutual fund distributors (MFDs) over the next year.

Similarly, AMFI has also partnered with Sa-Dhan to provide investor education to SHG members and microfinance borrowers.

Educational initiative

Bharat Nivesh Mela for investor education

AMFI has also announced the Bharat Nivesh Mela, an experiential investor education initiative.

The program will use interactive formats to simplify concepts such as SIPs, asset allocation, market volatility, and fraud prevention.

It will be piloted across five cities during World Investor Week with further expansion based on learnings from the pilot.

Women's initiative

Financial awareness in women's marathons

AMFI has collaborated with Pinkathon, India's biggest women's run, to integrate financial awareness into its women-centric community.

The association will cover the Pinkathon City Marathon Series across 15 cities and Pinkathon Day across 52 cities.

The initiative seeks to encourage women to take greater ownership of their financial goals and investment decisions while strengthening their participation in the formal investment ecosystem.
