Coursera's Hart: AI could grow India's economy 40% if reskilling
AI might help India's economy grow by 40% by 2035, but only if people learn the right skills, according to Coursera President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Hart.
He highlighted how important it is for workers to get ready for new kinds of jobs as AI changes the market.
India is already Coursera's second-largest user base and may soon top the US.
Coursera India staff now exceed 20%
Over 20% of Coursera's global staff now work in India, handling everything from engineering to marketing.
Hart called out India's flexible approach to online learning: students can earn up to 40% of their credits online, and Coursera is working closely with the NSQF to make as many microcredentials as possible credit-eligible.
Plus, dropping prices by 60% in India has made it much easier for more people to join in and pick up industry-ready credentials.
