Delhi GST seizes ₹5cr train shipment at Hazrat Nizamuddin
Business
Delhi's GST department, working with railway officials, just seized goods worth about ₹5 crore at Hazrat Nizamuddin station.
The 50-ton shipment came in from Andhra Pradesh and included 25 tons of copper scrap (almost ₹3 crore) plus another 25 tons of mixed scrap, clothes, and other items.
Missing GST papers, Rekha Gupta warns
Turns out, the entire consignment was missing key GST documents like invoices and e-way bills, stuff that's legally required.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made it clear: "The Delhi government will not tolerate tax evasion and revenue loss at any cost."
This is all part of a bigger push to keep a closer eye on goods moving by train and stop tax cheats in their tracks.
