HCLTech buys 10.5% stake in Sarvam AI for sovereign AI
HCLTech just picked up a 10.5% stake in Sarvam AI, entering India's enterprise AI market, which is at least $20 billion in size.
The two are teaming up to build custom AI models and boost technology infrastructure for businesses and government projects.
This move is all about meeting the rising demand for "sovereign" AI: systems that give big organizations more control over their data and technology.
HCLTech, Sarvam AI plan global rollout
HCLTech Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director C Vijayakumar called sovereign AI their "sixth big opportunity," highlighting how crucial it is for large institutions to have strategic control over their own systems.
With Sarvam AI on board, the plan is to create advanced, secure models tailored for clients across industries—and even take these solutions global using HCLTech's network.
Both companies see this as a way to shape the future of India's (and maybe the world's) enterprise AI scene.
