HSBC to launch 200 AI projects with Google Cloud worldwide
Business
HSBC is partnering with Google Cloud to roll out more than 200 AI projects worldwide in just two years.
Using Google's Gemini technology, each project can each generate more than $100 million in extra revenue or savings.
It's a big move as the bank leans into digital transformation and faster, smarter services.
HSBC considering cutting about 20,000 roles
While these AI upgrades are set to make things more efficient, they could also shake up jobs: HSBC is reportedly considering cutting about 20,000 roles.
Still, CEO Georges Elhedery says people will stay important even as automation grows.
Other big banks like JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs are also betting on AI to change how banking works.
